Department of Chemistry
The Department of Chemistry has been recognized as a research centre of VTU, Belagavi in the year 2014.
The Department of Chemistry has come into is functioning right since the inception of the KLECET in the year 2008. The department is involved in teaching engineering chemistry theory to impart basic knowledge in applied chemistry and laboratory course to the students of different engineering disciplines. The department is well equipped with modern amenities for laboratory experiments. The staffs of the department are actively involved in teaching interdisciplinary courses and also in research.
The Department of Chemistry has been recognized as a research centre of VTU, Belagavi in the year 2014, since then actively involved in the research and developments and two students are registered for Ph.D. The major research areas in the chemistry department are Organic and Medicinal chemistry, Electrochemistry, Materials for energy storage, Synthesis and applications of nanomaterials using bio materials, development of sensors and biosensors, kinetics and catalytic studies, co-ordination chemistry, organometallic chemistry and research related to environmental chemistry.
